If you’ve been considering acupuncture treatments but aren’t sure what to expect, you aren’t alone. We hear from many of our acupuncture patients that they were hesitant to try this method of treatment because they didn’t know what to expect during their first appointment, but regretted waiting so long to try it. Because we don’t want you to put off treatment any longer, we wanted to explain more about what you can expect during your first New Jersey acupuncture treatment in our office.
During your first visit, you’ll be evaluated by our acupuncturist. They’ll discuss with you what your health concerns are so they know what areas of the body to treat, and where the proper needle placement is. You’ll lay down in a comfortable chair or table (similar to a massage table) in a calm, relaxing room. The needles will then be inserted. Don’t let the thought of needles scare you off from receiving treatment! These needles are as thin as a hair, and most clients aren’t able to feel them when they are inserted. The needles will stay in place for 10 to 20 minutes (times may vary, based on the recommendations of your acupuncturist). Then they will be removed and you’ll be free to carry on with the rest of your day!
Many patients experience a feeling of euphoria after an acupuncture treatment in our New Jersey clinic. Many clients require several acupuncture treatments to see the full effect of the method, so we’ll be sure to get you another appointment scheduled before you leave.
